Summary:

Lord of The Flies tells the tale of a group of English school boys who crash on a deserted island. Initially, the school children take care of one another, cooperating and aiding in the survival of one another by making shelter, hunting food and igniting fires. However, civility quickly turns to a play of savagery as the boys paint themselves and begin taking sides, pitting one against the other. William Golding has written a thrilling novel that explores the not so great expanse between human reason and animal instinct.

Megan says:

Frightening. Beautiful. Tragic. Innocence. Lord of the Flies is an all time favorite of mine, therefore making this a must-read to all! The story examines the intrinsic dark side of humanity through thirteen boys who are stranded on a deserted island. We follow them on their journey into survival which lays many thrilling and disturbing adventures while equally displaying an innocence beauty within each of the boys. Really and truly an AMAZING story.
